Walk to raise $100,000 for devastating disease

HoloDek Gaming of Hampton is teaming up with the New Hampshire Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for this year’s Walk to Cure Diabetes.

Rye NH – September 24, 2006 - Help us make history! For the first time in human history, a cure for a chronic disease is within reach.  More than 400 walkers representing local corporations, families, schools and organizations are expected to turn out for the New Hampshire Branch of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) annual Walk to Cure Diabetes, on Sunday, September 24 at Odiorne State Park in Rye.  The goal is to raise over $100,000 for research to find a cure for Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes and its complications.

Local sponsors already committed include: Stonewall Kitchen, McDonalds, Hewlett Packard, Ralph Mahoney & Sons, New England Homes, New England Fire Cause & Origin, HoloDek, Burns, Bryant, Cox, Rockefeller and Durkin, Exeter Hospital and Seacoast Media Group.

To get involved in the 2006 Walk to Cure Diabetes in Rye, visit the local chapter’s website. www.jdrf.org/newhampshire or contact the NH branch directly at 603-595-2595 or by email newhampshire@jdrf.org.

There’s a cure and together, we’ll find it!

JDRF, the leading charitable funder and advocate of juvenile (type 1) diabetes research worldwide, was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with juvenile diabetes – a disease which strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin-dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Since inception, JDRF has provided more than $800 million in direct funding to diabetes research. In a typical year, 80 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education. JDRF’s mission is constant:  to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the

support of research.
